Goguryeo Kingdom

??Korea at the Height of Goguryeo expansion in the 5th century.
The goguryeo kingdom was established in 37 B.C. by King Gojumong. By the first century, it had firmly established itself as a powerful state. Under the reign of King Gwanggaeto the great, Goguryeo flourished on a vast area from the south-central Manchuria to the northern part of the Korean peninsula. The crown passed to the king Gwanggaeto's son, Jangsu. King Jangsu took after father's enterprises and brought Goguryeo culture into peak. Later Goguryeo failed to withstand the military alliance of Shilla and Dang. Finally Goguryeo collasped in A.D 668.

These days, Chinese scholars argue that Goguryeo was a provincial regime of various dynasties in 'Middle China', and try to incorporate the history into that of China. Goguryeo is meaningful, and significant to all korean throughout the korean history. During the Three Kindoms period, Goguryeo reigned the present territory of North Korea. Also Goguryeo had been firmly established as a powerful kingdom and frequently clashed with China. Goguryeo was never a subordinate state of China.
